Our Story

The Natural Soap Bar grew from a love of creating simple, thoughtfully made products using natural ingredients. 

What began with handmade soap soon developed into a passion for experimenting with oils, butters botanicals and traditional cold-process soapmaking. Over time, that curiosity has grown into a collection of soaps and bath and body products, all made in small batches here in New Zealand.

Native botanicals are an important part of The Natural Soap Bar. Mānuka and horopito are gathered by us from the Horopito area of Tongariro National Park, while the kawakawa we use is gathered from our own backyard. Our mānuka honey comes from a local beekeeper, and other native ingredients, including harakeke and pōhutukawa extracts, are sourced from New Zealand suppliers. We prepare our botanicals and create our own botanical-infused oils using a gentle hot-infusion process. 

                                     

Every recipe is developed, tested and refined before it becomes part of the collection. Some products are inspired by New Zealand's native botanicals. while others are simple everyday favourites. What they all have in common is the care, time and attention that goes into making them, from the ingredients we choose to the finished product and it's packaging. Each detail matters.
